FC Birmingham Youth to Launch Grassroots Program in Tarrant

Birmingham, AL – FC Birmingham Youth (FCBY) is proud to announce the launch of its first grassroots program in the City of Tarrant, starting in the Fall of 2024. This initiative marks a significant step towards expanding the organized game of soccer in the Birmingham Metro Area.

Doug Walk, Executive Director & Founder of FC Birmingham Youth, expressed his enthusiasm for the new program: “We are really excited about this program. Our goal is to grow the organized game of soccer in the Birmingham Metro Area, and this is a crucial step towards that goal.”

About the Grassroots Program

The grassroots program will be a community-based initiative, designed to introduce young players to the sport of soccer. It will participate in the Alabama Soccer Association’s Futures program, with younger players competing in an intra-club league. This program builds on five years of FCBY’s dedication to providing grassroots players with opportunities to play competitively, now expanding to include introductory experiences for the youngest enthusiasts.

Upcoming Free Clinic and Registration

To kick off the grassroots program, FCBY will host a free soccer clinic in June 2024. This clinic aims to provide an engaging introduction to soccer for young players and their families. Registration for the grassroots program will also open in June, coinciding with the clinic.

Program Highlights

  • Community-Based Initiative: Focused on growing soccer at the grassroots level within the local community.
  • Competitive Play: Participation in the Alabama Soccer Association’s Futures program and intra-club leagues for younger players.
