Birmingham, AL December 26, 2023 – FC Birmingham proudly announces the promotion of Gabriel Greguol to First Team Head Coach, succeeding the esteemed Coach Goldfarb. With his extensive experience within the club since 2021 and remarkable success leading FCB II, Coach Gabriel is set to take the reins and lead FC Birmingham into a new era.
Coach Gabriel’s journey with FC Birmingham began in 2021, and he played a pivotal role in the inception and coaching of the 2nd team in 2022. His coaching prowess was evident as FCB II achieved notable milestones, finishing 3rd in the top division of the Alabama Soccer League, Semi-finalist in the 2022 Fall UPSL Division 1 Playoffs, and Finalist in the 2023 Fall UPSL Division 1 Playoffs.
Reflecting on Coach Gabriel’s accomplishments, Doug Walk, owner of FC Birmingham stated, “Coach Gabriel embodies the spirit of FC Birmingham. From starting a club in a developing diverse metro area to uniting players from different backgrounds, he has created a diverse, inclusive, yet competitive environment of high achievement, a testament to his leadership.”
With our 1st team having spent the last five seasons in the Premier Division of the UPSL, Coach Gabriel acknowledges the foundation laid by Coach Goldfarb and is committed to building on it. He aims to guide the team back into contention for a division title and the National Round of 32.
Coach Gabriel commented on the club’s direction, “In Football and Life nothing can be accomplished without Passion, Dedication, and discipline, it is time to take that road and start the process.,” and offered insights into what to expect under his leadership, “I want to invite all players with the skill necessary to compete at a high level, no matter ethnicity, no matter their religion to join us in this journey. As the Head coach, I will make it my task to Embrace the challenge, inspire determination, and mold each player’s potential into a powerhouse of teamwork on the field. Together we’ll kick off a new era of success”.
