FC Birmingham launches FCB Youth Academy

FC Birmingham, the new Semi-professional Soccer team, which kick-offs this Fall, has announced that it is opening a new Youth Academy.

Under the supervision of the First Team’s Head Coach, Preston Goldfarb, and the Youth Academy Director, the Club aims to create a world-class youth talent development program designed to produce quality players that can compete in the global market.

The Academy will offer the following teams: Boys – U19/18, U17/16, U15/14, U14/13, U12, U11, U10, U9; Girls – U19/18, U16/17, U12/11, U10/9. The Academy will continue to add more girls teams in the years ahead.

The Academy training program is primarily focused on producing quality soccer players and well-rounded individuals who will be able to compete at the highest level both in soccer and in life.

Doug Walk, Owner/President of FC Birmingham, said:

“Youth Development is my passion and the foundation to everything I dream of in soccer. I am beyond excited to be part of this movement to continue to grow the most popular sport in the world here in the Birmingham area. Also, there is so much undeveloped talent in Birmingham and it is our goal to shine the spotlight on those players and give them an opportunity to live out their dreams.”

The Academy will also allow the Elite High School Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to train with the First team and possibly suit up for a game with the First or Second team!

Coach Preston Goldfarb, Head Coach FC Birmingham First Team said:

“I decided to come out of my 5 year retirement, because I believe in the vision of our owner Mr. Doug Walk in starting this top team and youth academy. I truly believe we can develop the best program for our youth anywhere, by teaching the game by playing simple, both technically and tactically. By playing simple, it will allow each player the opportunity to be able to think on and off the ball. Simple soccer is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on white bread, with a glass of milk, not Fancy, like caviar and champagne”.
